Crit Luallen was elected Kentucky's Auditor of Public Accounts in 2003 and was re-elected in 2007 with 59 percent of the vote. She has served in several appointed positions, including Secretary of the Governor's Executive Cabinet, State Budget Director and Secretary of the Finance and Administration Cabinet. She also served as President of the Greater Louisville Economic Development Partnership. In 2001 Luallen was awarded the National Excellence in Leadership Award by Women Executives in State Government.
While State Auditor, her office has uncovered millions of dollars in fraud and questionable expenditures. In an effort to ensure government efficiency and protect taxpayers, the office has expanded the use of performance auditing and special investigations.
She is a Frankfort native, Centre College graduate, and is married to Lynn Luallen.
